quality Control for Your Head

When Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living,” he was defending his practice of teaching his students to think for themselves, to examine the ideas that had been “given” to them. We all have thoughts that were given to us by our families, our society, our culture. These given thoughts are so pervasive and so ingrained that they seem like part of our very being, but that’s exactly why we need to dig in and examine them if we want a life worth living. Memes are ideas that are transmitted, like viruses, and take up residence in our heads. Their presence can influence our behavior and limit us in ways we don’t even notice unless we make a real effort to examine what we think and why. Memes die hard because they’ve become who we think we are. They aren’t necessarily good or bad; some may even serve our health and well-being. But, if we allow these unexamined thoughts to become excuses for not living our best life, such as “I’ll always be poor, unlucky, overweight, shy, lonely, angry, addicted,” then they need to be hauled out into the sunlight and challenged. Don’t let your unexamined thoughts cause you pain and keep you from living your Divine purpose.

What's Wrong with Ambition ?

I’ve had a lot of questions about the nature of ambition. If the shift to a purposeful life is moving from ambition to meaning, why is it that we have to get away from ambition? What’s wrong with ambition? Isn’t that what we need to reach our goals and realize our dreams? I know it sounds contradictory—isn’t life full of seeming contradictions that we have to balance?—but in fact, we don’t have to give up ambition, only shift it toward the things we are here to achieve, the music we are here to play. You can be ambitious about having meaning in your life. I don’t think I’m not ambitious right now. I get more done now than I’ve ever gotten done in my life: creating books, writing all the time, living a very fulfilled life, making money, giving lectures, and doing all the kinds of things I do, but there’s a part of me that is so content and peaceful with who I am and what I’m doing that I know this is the music I came here to play. I’m ambitious, but I’m ambitious not so much about accumulation. It’s not the having but the being—the peace and the joy—that lets you know when your ambitions have meaning.

Seek the Light

Just as a candle spreads light in a darkened room, people who are living in-Spirit give off a higher energy that can bring light to our hearts and minds. In other words, we can be inspired just by being in their presence. How can we find people who are living their lives in-Spirit? One measure that has worked for me is the “joy index.” When we meet others who we think might be living in-Spirit, we can ask the following questions: Do they seem to have a rapturous heart, sending out signals that they love the world and everyone in it? Are they jubilant about the work they do? Do they see the world as a friendly place? Are they at peace with themselves? Do they appear to be kind rather than judgmental? Do they tend to be cheerful? Do they love to play? Are they willing to be students as well as teachers? Do they love nature? Are they in awe of the world? Are they approachable? Do they take great pleasure in serving others? Do they accept all people as equals? Are they open to new ideas? The answers to these questions will help us determine whether another person is potentially an inspiring influence in our lives. We can recognize them by how we feel in their presence. We recognize their high spiritual energy, which longs to be active in our lives. For me, it feels like a warm, soothing shower that’s running deep within me. I know I’m resonating with a higher energy that makes me feel incredibly good!

The virtuoso's mantra

Virtuoso's Mantra
Many of us field 500+ emails a day. There’s more work and less time. Expectations have never been higher. And the pace of change has now been set to revolutionary.

The best performers have a singular ability: they strip away the noise and focus on doing just a couple of things…really really well. Makes me think of Michelangelo’s protocol for delivery masterpieces: he’d see his David in the block of marble. Then he’d cut away at all that was not of his absolute best vision.

Picasso didn’t play the piano. Federer didn’t learn the flute. All Virtuoso’s have a mantra: “I avoid the trivial many so I can master the vital few.”

Go With The Love

"Chill out and go to the work!" It's a great way of reminding us to take a deep breath & focus on what's really important. Here something to think about : There are no times of financial crisis. It's just the way the world is,and you always have a choice about how to react to it. Don't listen to negative news & don't be consumed by the worry, the fear, the anxiety, & the anger. Go within & know that you don't need another penny to have a fulfilled & happy life. To believe that you need what you don't have is a definition of insanity, Go within your own heart & don,t allow yourself to be brought down by the negativity.
There are only two emotions- Fear and Love. Go with Love. Love yourself, Love God & know that you have within you the capacity & the power to weather through all times, not only to weather through but to make them work for you & to turn them around. If enough of us begin to act and believe & live this way then negativity and fear will no longer be part of our consciousness. You can live peacefully even when there is tumult around you. Just know that you have the power to weather anythig.

Namaste.

UDAAN

THE IMAGE OF THE YOUTH TODAY

“RUIN & MISERY MARK THEIR WAYS, AND THE WAY OF PEACE THEY DO NOT KNOW.”- The bible

It is logical to ask why. What causes the youth of today to strike at the face of law & order, to lash out at their parents, friends and enemies alike with hatred, jealousy, and indecency to such alarming degrees? What has so dramatically caused our youth to become callous and hedonistic that material pursuits have become the call of the day?If we grapple with these questions for a while, we know that it is nothing but the perpetual erosion of moral absolutes from our culture which has resulted in such mayhem. When youth do not have a personal value that separate the right from the wrong, wheat from chaff, there is nothing to prevent them from treading the path to a cold disregard for values a human life holds.Restoring the moral absolutes to the fabric of our society is pivotal to the solution of dealing with the leviathan of immorality but not the entire solution. We must not only ensure the youth from getting immersed in a culture that glorifies hedonism, violence, illicit sex, drugs and other evils but also allow them to experience love and nurture of a caring family and companionship of true friends. Our youth must learn what it means to honor and respect people & property and value life. And this was how udaan took birth into the minds of few young students, all of them being like your next door kids but still desiring to make a difference in the society..

UDAAN-A SMALL INSIGHT

Udaan is a surge towards the open sky of love, faith, hope, courage, dignity and undying happiness...we the Youth are the foundation of the society and if the foundation remains weak, decadence is just a matter of time. Hence, to attempt to provide solutions and to firefight the imminent collapse of the future is what udaan is all about. It’s an Endeavour to help our friends recognize the beauty of life – it’s a big heart that cares for you, a small mind that understands & provides answers to your problems & questions. It is a medium to lend you a hand and show you the right path. It’s a weapon to destroy the fear deep rooted in the hearts of the youth, a ray of hope for the hopeless, a friend that shares your burdens and cares. Udaan - “it’s a step at a time” towards a better and glorious tomorrow.

VISION STATEMENT

Udaan a youth organization aspires “to impact this generation positively & challenge them to live spotlessly pure lives, sustained by integrity of character and nurtured by spiritual and moral values”

MISSION STATEMENT

Udaan –a youth organization, works to broaden the perceptions of the youth s about life and its worth. It aims at comprehensive growth of the youth to wake up to their potential and channelize their vast reservoir of energy to bring down the insurmountable.

PROGRAM METHODOLOGY

Almost 3 years of our going research, training and experience have gone into the methodology that Udaan adopts, to reach out to the youth. it includes:

· The big jam: The time of fun filled singing and music with ‘Electrika’- the udaan band.

STUDENT COUNSELLING

We normally think of udaan counselors as someone to whom students go to when things are not working the way we think or believe they should. These are all good concepts but we find that youth interaction create awareness about self realization i.e. purpose of life. After all the purpose of learning is, learning how to get through life, hopefully in one piece and in harmony. The emphasis on youth interaction and udaan counseling is to help individuals find out who they are , their purpose, their gifts, and help them walk in the path that of a human being with strong ethics and ethos . We our own self are the best teacher and once a person is connected with their purpose and their calling they will not be happy or content with anything else outside. Individuals and students are able to learn far faster than in normal teaching settings as the focus is on purpose of life as the center of all things. Once purpose is at the center, things are in balance. Once balance is obtained individuals and students are able to learn more, retain more, and learn to become a part of the solution. This is true for children, youth and adults. One is just a little bigger than the other and perhaps older, but the needs are the same.

UDAAN HELPLINE CENTRE

Udaan counseling center (a counseling center for youth issues) started on 1st July ’08 at head office’ vidhyut nagar. A team of energetic youth under the guidance of renowned physiatrist, counselors, experienced lecturer solves issues. Udaan deals in various issues students face, few pertinent problems are: emotional, career, family and friend, study related, sexual, behavioral adjustment, tension and depression, memory, physiological, lack of concentration, drug rehabilitation.Careful listening is the largest part of what udaan counselors do. We make sure students must share the problem areas in their own terms and help them define what they wish to do next. We actively offer suggestions for further ways of investigating or begin to resolve the problems; sometimes we are less interventive and let the work proceed more at the students pace.Udaan Basic counseling is offered free of charge to students as part of the udaan- a youth organization designed to help them make most of their life. If students need more specialized or more intensive support than the udaan counseling center can refer to an outside service. Some of these are free of charge; others do take a charge. In present scenario, seeing a counselor doesn't mean you are ill. However, where there are some symptoms of illness - depression, anxiety etc. - counseling can be helpful. Counselors will not treat you as a sick person, but rather as someone going through a bad time.Udaan counselor profiles are:
